Ohana Style Workshops || 2008 - 2009

Ohana in Hawaiian is the word for family and that is the feeling created in these workshops. They are designed to be small and intimate so that you may have direct personal experiences with the kumu, teacher. Many of these workshops are held in residential settings. All of these workshops have a limited number of participants. If the workshop is more than one day, you will be responsible for your meals and accommodations. We will be glad to supply information regarding accommodations or dining after you register.

Aunty Maile Napoleon

Lomi Lomi Weekend

Aunty Maile Napoleon

Big Island of Hawaii

Aunty Maile was inspired to learn lomi lomi by her Kohala tutu (grandmother). At 16 her father had a stroke and was told by the doctors that he would not speak or walk again. Hearing the words of her tutu, she began to lomi him daily. After 6 months of pule (prayer) and lomi, her father said his first words and in nine months he took his first steps.

Aunty learned the basics of her work from her grandmother. She learned that you must pule (pray) before and after you lomi, that you must work with unconditional love and that the therapist is only the tool for the work, for the healing is truly accomplished by ke Akua. Later in life Aunty learned the lomi style of Papa Kalua Kaiahua, a very gifted and respected lomi lomi and la`au lapa`au master from Maui. In her work with him she saw and experienced many miracles. She was given permission to teach his style of lomi lomi.

Aunty Maile is a renaissance woman. In addition to being a master lomi practitioner, she is also a master of many cultural traditions. She is recognized for her unique and beautiful lei making, her stone carving and the exquisite joy that she offers freely.

  • spiritual background of lomi lomi
  • several chants and prayers
